Woodlands 2024

Monday

We arrived safely, despite the flooding, and have enjoyed settling in to our rooms and Woodlands. In the afternoon we completed team problem solving games in our activity groups, followed by orientation.  To finish the day we enjoyed a beautiful night walk, with star gazing.

Tuesday

After a good night's sleep we are ready for a day of climbing, high ropes and zip wire!

The children all enjoyed climbing, adventuring across the high ropes and whizzing down the zip wire! They surprised themselves by pushing themselves out of their comfort zones on the climbing wall, overcoming any previous doubts and cheering each other on. We are so proud of the values they are demonstrating, including; resilience and compassion.

In the evening the children enjoyed 'photo orienteering' before their bedtime story and they all slept well. Wednesday promises another day packed with activities! One group will be canoeing and the other is off to the caves for the day.

Wednesday

Today the groups enjoyed caving and canoeing! One group set off to explore the caves with Miss Parsons, hiking to their destination first and enjoying the experience. The second group headed over to the canal for a day of canoeing. We were able to see the Canal Trust's hard work draining flooded areas, whilst enjoying a day on the water. In the evening we completed orienteering together before our bedtime story.

Thursday

The groups swapped activities today, so one group ventured off to the caves while the other went canoeing on the canal! Our canal group braved going through tunnels in the dark and enjoyed being on the water, learning new skills. The caving group were brilliant and fearless, journeying deep under the ground and worming their way through the 'wormhole', being posted through the 'letterbox' and crawling along the 'dead man's ledge'. What incredible adventurers the Golden Eagles are!

Friday

Today promised to be another active day, involving a mountain hike for both groups before we get ready for our departure. The children have slept well all week and are ready for their home comforts. Prior to leaving we will have a sausage roll to fill us up for the journey.

This week the children have shown such resilience, kindness and determination. Everyone has given 100% and we are so proud of them all - you are capable of incredible things, Golden Eagles. Thank you for a wonderful week of memories!
