Kingfishers
Summer 1 update
In Kingfishers this term, we have started to learn about out topic on Oxford. The children have used atlases to label their own maps and have learnt about the 3 main rivers in Oxford. They have also conducted their own research to make a fact file about the history of Oxford University.
In English, we have been reading Lyra's Oxford, from which we have written our own fantasy stories. We have also been looking at different types of poems, writing our own poems and performing poems confidently to the class. In Maths, we have been learning about money, negative numbers and statistics.
Kingfishers have enjoyed being creative in our art unit this term where we have explored the works of Jean-Michel Basquiat. We have used sketching, shading, cross-hatching and collaging to create our own self-portraits inspired by Basquiat. In Science, we have had lots of fun exploring and building circuits as part of our electricity unit.
In PE, Kingfishers class have really impressed me by learning and contributing to a dance to 'Revolting Children' from Matilda the Musical. They have made up some small parts of their own choreography in groups and have worked hard each week in learning and practising a routine.
