Golden Eagles have made a fantastic start to Forest School. They have already learned lots of new skills and found out lots about their local environment, including different trees, plants, insects and fungi! They have already developed and improved their skills in working together cooperatively and supporting one another; their resilience to see a task through to a conclusion has also improved and the adults have been really impressed. They have also had lots of fun getting wet, muddy and sharing some happy times with their friends.
We have learnt lots of different knots which have helped us make rope bridges, swings and pull up bars. Map reading was developed in our Chinese New Year orienteering activity where we searched for Chinese New Year animal pictures tied in the trees and then located it's position on our maps. Fire lighting has also been a hit; we have used matches and also flint and steel. We toasted marshmallows and had smores made with chocolate digestives.
